Marble Rivals: Race Royale ("the game") is made by Smooth Bird Studios LLC, a New York limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the game collects, why, who else sees it, and what you can do about it. Questions: [email protected].
The short version
- No account and no sign-up. The game never asks for your name, email, phone number, birthday or address.
- No tracking across other apps. The game does not use your iPhone's advertising identifier and does not ask for permission to track.
- No ads are shown and nothing can be bought in this version. Both are built in but switched off. If we switch either on, we change this page first.
- Your progress is on your phone, with a backup copy at our game-services provider (Unity) so a lost phone does not mean lost progress.
- Crash reports go to Unity so we can fix crashes. Gameplay statistics are switched off today; when on, you can turn them off in the game.
- You can delete everything from inside the game: Options → Account & Help → Delete My Data.
1. What we collect
On your phone only (never sent): your progress (races, tracks, levels, stars), your items (coins, gems, marbles, looks), your settings, the player name you typed (if any), a record of coin and gem changes, and recent crash and stutter notes. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
Sent off your phone:
| What | When | Example |
|---|---|---|
| An anonymous player id | every launch | a random code created by Unity's sign-in. It is not your Apple ID and not your device's advertising identifier |
| A backup of your save file | while the backup is on (it is on today) | the same progress, items, settings and typed name listed above |
| Crash reports and performance information | always | the error, a few lines of the game's log, device model (for example "iPhone 16 Pro"), iOS version, game version |
| A rough region | every connection | derived by Unity from your internet connection (country or region level, never your street or GPS position) |
| An install id generated by Unity | every launch | used by Unity's services to tell installs apart; it resets if you delete and reinstall |
| Race data in an online duel | only when you race a friend by code | the join code, the moves and positions in the race, and the label "Rival LV" plus your level — never your typed name |
| Gameplay statistics | switched off today; when on, only if you leave Share Play Stats on (and, in Europe, only if you say yes) | which track, where you finished, how long it took, whether the game stuttered. Never your name |
We do not collect: your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, precise location, browsing or search history, health data, or payment details.
2. Why we use it
- To run the game — sign you in anonymously, keep your backup, connect an online duel, and read our game settings (event dates, prices, which features are on).
- To fix it — crash and performance reports tell us what broke and on which phone.
- To balance it — gameplay statistics (when on) tell us if a track is too hard or rewards come too slowly.
We do not sell your information, do not use it for advertising, and do not build a profile of you.
3. Who else sees it
We use these providers, each named with whether it is working in the version on the App Store:
| Provider | What it does for the game | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Apple — App Store, Game Center, notifications, screen recording | sells the game; Game Center keeps your achievements (Apple's service under Apple's privacy policy; we receive no Game Center id); reminders are scheduled on your phone; clips are recorded by Apple's recorder | Working (Game Center if you are signed in; clips only if you switch them on) |
| Unity Technologies — Unity Gaming Services: Core, Authentication | the anonymous player id and install id | Working |
| Unity — Remote Config | sends the game its settings | Working |
| Unity — Cloud Save | your save backup | Working |
| Unity — Relay (Multiplayer) | carries an online duel between two phones; sees your internet address to route the race; we keep no race history | Working (when you duel by code) |
| Unity — Cloud Diagnostics | crash and performance reports | Working |
| Unity — Analytics | gameplay statistics | Switched off |
| Unity engine's built-in (older) analytics | not used; switched off in the game's settings | Switched off |
| Unity — Cloud Code | checks that a purchase from Apple is genuine | Switched off (no purchases yet) |
| Unity — In-App Purchasing (with Apple's StoreKit) | the store | Switched off |
| Unity — Economy | not used by the game | Not used |
| Unity LevelPlay (rewarded ads) and Apple's tracking prompt | optional ads you choose to watch for a reward | Switched off |
| Anzu (ads on trackside billboards) | not in the game | Not in the game |
| Unity Mobile Notifications | daily reminder, scheduled on your phone; nothing is sent | Working (local only) |
When ads are switched on (not today): watching an ad will always be your choice and always rewarded. The ad network will receive device and ad information to show and count the ad. iOS may ask "Allow this app to track…"; saying no changes no reward. We will update this page and tell you in the game first.
When purchases are switched on (not today): Apple takes the payment; we never see your card. We receive Apple's signed record of the purchase so we can check it is genuine and deliver the item, and we keep a record that it happened.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect players and the game from fraud. If the company is ever sold, this policy goes with it and we will say so in the game.
4. Your choices
All in the game, under Options (most of them in Account & Help).
- Delete My Data — erases, in this order, the cloud backup, your anonymous Unity player, the coin-and-gem record, every save file on the
phone, and every stored setting. The next launch starts fresh with a new anonymous id. Deleting the app alone removes only the phone's copy; use Delete My Data to remove the backup too.
- Restore — Options → Cloud Save puts your backup back on this phone (it replaces what is there, and the game asks you to hold the button first).
Restore Purchases asks Apple for anything you bought (available once purchases open).
- Reminders — on or off. iOS also asks before the first reminder, and iOS Settings → Marble Rivals → Notifications turns them off.
- Save Race Clips — off until you switch it on. Clips stay on your phone; you save or share them through Apple's own sheet. The microphone is never used.
- Share Play Stats — on or off. Off stops gameplay statistics at once; the game plays the same either way.
For anything else — a copy of what we hold or a correction — email [email protected] with "Privacy request" in the subject. We answer within 30 days.
5. Children
The game is not directed to children under 13 and is not in the App Store's Kids category. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The game asks no one for a name, email, birthday or location, and no ad is shown. A parent who believes a child has given us personal information can email [email protected]; we will delete it and confirm.
6. Players in the European Union, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
- On a phone whose App Store country or region is in Europe (or cannot be read), the game asks once, after your first race, whether to share
gameplay statistics — two equal buttons, nothing pre-chosen, and the game plays the same either way. No gameplay statistics are shared before you answer.
- Our legal bases: contract (running the game, the backup, duels), legitimate interests (crash and performance reports, security,
fraud prevention), consent (gameplay statistics; ads when switched on). You may withdraw consent at any time in Options.
- You have the right to access, correct, delete, move, restrict or object to the use of your information, and to complain to your data
protection authority. Use the in-game Delete My Data or email us.
- Our providers may handle information outside your country, including in the United States, under the safeguards the law requires.
7. California
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. California residents may ask to know, delete or correct the personal information we hold, and will not be treated differently for asking. Categories we collect: identifiers (the anonymous player and install ids), internet activity within the game (gameplay statistics when on), approximate location (region), and diagnostics. Email [email protected].
8. How long we keep it
On your phone: until you delete the app or use Delete My Data. The cloud backup: while your anonymous player exists, and deleted by Delete My Data. Crash and performance reports and statistics: as long as they help us fix and balance the game, then deleted or reduced to totals.
9. Security
Information travels between the game and our providers over encrypted connections and is stored on their secured systems. Your save file is protected by iOS's app sandbox. No system is perfect; if something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you promptly.
10. Changes
We change the date at the top when we change this page. A significant change — switching on ads, purchases or gameplay statistics, or collecting anything new — is announced in the game, not only here.
